Manual Lymphatic Drainage

*Please note, the Manual Lymphatic Draining done at Frisco Massage Therapy is performed fully clothed while on the therapy table. Loose fitting or athletic leisure wear (no jeans) should be worn or brought with you to your appointment to allow your therapist access to all lymph nodes without restriction.

Do you ever wonder why your chronic pain persists despite therapy and medication? Your lymphatic system may be obstructed. When the body does not have the ability to get rid of cellular waste, it creates inflammation which impedes the cellular regeneration/healing process.

The lymphatic system is the filtration network of the body that gets rid of cellular waste. When this system is overloaded, the body relies more on the other detox organs (kidney, liver, lungs fat and skin).

The body, with the exception of nails, hair and cartilage, bathes in lymphatic fluid. The lymphatic system works in unison with the immune system (as it is the first line of defense), with the circulatory system, and the gastrointestinal system. It maintains the PH level in the body by removing excess proteins from the interstitial fluid.

During a lymph drainage massage, a specially-trained massage therapist uses a series of gliding, compressing, stretching, and cupping motions over the client’s body. The light rhythmic movements stimulate the lymphatic system without compressing the vessels – allowing lymph to move easily through the tissues and lymph nodes. MLD follows a specific sequence over the body so lymph isn’t trapped anywhere, making sure every area is treated with care.
