Thai Massage
Thai massage therapy is unlike any other massage modality you will experience. There is no disrobing or getting under sheets, and no oils or lotions. What you can expect is a full body massage of stretching, pulling and rocking that is done with the therapists hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like positions while also applying deep muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure.
Thai massage also uses energy work, which involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to open channels that will improve the flow of energy throughout the body.
After a treatment, you can expect to be loose and energized, with your muscles warm and stretched. The stretches can give relief to sore muscles and joints while preventing injuries related to tightness and inflexibility. These physical benefits translate to mental ones, with better focus and maybe even a positive attitude adjustment.
Come to the appointment wearing loose-fitting or athletic clothing. Try to avoid tight clothing because it can cause discomfort and limit the range of motion during the massage. Thai massage is traditionally done on the floor on a padded mat. Communication is key throughout the session and the therapist will check in with you regularly to adjust pressure and range of stretch you are comfortable with. 60 minutes is needed for a full body Thai massage.
