Injury Recovery

Therapeutic massage for injury recovery has one goal, to reduce and eliminate pain in the body. Uncovering the source and causation of pain requires advanced training, experience and an intuitive hand. Many times a therapist is working backwards from years of dysfunction, neglect and compounded problems. The goal in each session is to continue to work through each issue as they contribute to the body's pain responses as a whole. Within four to six sessions, therapists typically see 80%+ reduced pain in needed areas, while simultaneously restoring movement, decreasing inflammation and enabling proper muscle function.

At Frisco Massage Therapy advanced certifications such as Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy, Structural and Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy, PhysioKinetix Neuromuscular Re-education are used for their cohesive applications for acute pain, sports therapy, injuries, myoskeletal dysfunction and repetitive pattern problems. These therapies are not like a traditional Swedish massage; every action and motion in the massage has very specific goals relating to the compensations your body has made to function while under duress. Rather than simply relaxing the muscles as a Swedish massage will achieve, a therapeutic massage aims to bring the body back into harmony (or homeostasis) with all the other systems in the body. The objective is to release muscles holding dysfunction, increase overall mobility, bring the body back to a neutral state, and restore postural stability, thereby assisting the body in pain recovery, function, and healing.
