Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the assessment take?
Your complete appointment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The instructions and InBody 580 Body Composition Analysis take about 60 seconds. The remaining time is used for the InGrip Strength Assessment and your private results review with a Certified InBody Specialist.
Is the InBody assessment safe?
The InBody 580 uses a low-level electrical current for bioelectrical impedance analysis. It does not use radiation and the assessment is noninvasive.
Contact Frisco Massage Therapy before booking if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic medical device, or have concerns about whether testing is appropriate for you. We may recommend consulting your healthcare provider.
Do I need to fast before my appointment?
You do not need to fast for an entire day. For more consistent results, wait at least three hours after your last meal before your appointment.
Maintain your normal fluid intake the day before and hydrate approximately one hour before testing.
What should I wear?
Wear light, comfortable clothing. You will need to remove your shoes and socks because your bare feet must contact the InBody electrodes.
Remove heavy jewelry, watches, and accessories before testing. Avoid applying lotion or ointment to your hands or feet.
How often should I complete an assessment?
The appropriate schedule depends on your goals and how quickly meaningful changes are expected. InBody generally recommends testing every two to four weeks when actively tracking progress.
Your Certified InBody Specialist can help you choose a schedule that makes sense for your goals. For reliable comparisons, try to test at approximately the same time of day and under similar conditions.
Is an InBody assessment more useful than a traditional scale?
A traditional scale measures total weight. It cannot show how that weight is distributed among muscle, body fat, and body water.
An InBody assessment provides a more detailed view of body composition. It can help identify changes that body weight alone may not reveal.
Can I compare previous assessments?
Yes. Your results are stored in the free InBody App, allowing you to review previous assessments and follow changes over time.
Testing under similar conditions helps create more useful comparisons. Try to maintain a consistent testing time, hydration routine, meal timing, and activity level before each appointment.
Why do you measure grip strength?
Grip strength is a simple way to measure muscle function. It can provide additional information about overall strength and functional ability.
Combined with your InBody 580 Body Composition Analysis results, the InGrip Strength Assessment provides another objective measurement that can be followed over time.
Will I complete the grip strength test at every assessment?
Yes. The InGrip Strength Assessment is included with every Body Composition Assessment.
Measuring grip strength consistently alongside body composition allows you to follow changes in strength and provides a more complete picture of your progress.
Does the assessment diagnose medical conditions?
No. An InBody assessment provides body composition measurements for educational and progress-tracking purposes. It does not diagnose medical conditions or replace evaluation and advice from a qualified healthcare provider.
